Well, we have had a great first week of first grade! I have really enjoyed getting to know your children. We have been spending a lot of our time learning our classroom and school routines such as walking quietly in the hallway, bathroom expectations, behavior expectations, etc. Next week I hope to begin our transition to a more “normal” schedule. We have a hard-working and friendly group of 13 boys and 9 girls in our classroom, and I think we are going to have a lot of fun together this year!
Remember—it’s perfectly normal for your child to be tired and even a little irritable at the end of the school day as s/he becomes accustomed to a full-day in the classroom. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or questions!
Enjoy the weekend!
Our Specials Schedule
Monday: Computer Lab (every other week)
Tuesday: Library
Wednesday: Gym (don’t forget shoes!)
Thursday: Art
Friday: Music
Thank you SO much for all of the supplies and wish list items you have sent in. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your generosity.
Mark Your Calendar!
Our first grade Curriculum Night will be on Monday, September 28th in the cafeteria. We will begin at 6:00. Please plan on attending, as we will be covering what your child will be learning in first grade and then allow you some time to “browse” the curriculum. This meeting is for parents only, please.
Snack Policy
Workman has a very strict snack policy that I will enforce. We have several children in our classroom with severe, life-threatening allergies. You may only send in fresh fruit or vegetables for your child to eat in the room during our snack time. Applesauce, canned fruits and raisins are also allowed. Please do not send in other items for your child to eat at snack time. Thank you.

Reminders
One of the things we will be using regularly in Math is our Math Tool Kits. These kits contain the supplies we need to do various hands-on math activities. I am asking each family to supply the coins necessary to keep in their child’s Tool Kit. I need you to send in:
~ 20 pennies ~10 nickels
~ 10 dimes ~6 quarters
Please put them in a plastic baggie or envelope labeled with your child’s name and “Tool Kit Money.” If your child does not accidentally lose or spend the coins, they will be sent home at the end of the year. Thank you!
Please send in $5 to cover the cost of the Math Home Links booklet that we will use throughout the year. This is your child’s math homework book.
Finally…
One of my top priorities is developing a positive relationship with you. As the mom of a preschooler, I know what it is like to be on the other end of the parent-teacher relationship. PLEASE contact me anytime about anything that you have questions or concerns about.
I am looking forward to next week! Don’t forget to periodically check our classroom website at www.mrscampbell.com I plan to update it on weekends throughout the school year. I welcome your comments & suggestions about what you would like to see included on it!
Again, thank you for your support. I am thrilled to be your child’s first grade teacher!
Sincerely,
Kelly Campbell
