Meet Mrs. Campbell

Hi!  So, you want to know a little bit about me.  My name is Kelly Campbell and first and foremost you should know that I LOVE teaching first grade.  There is no other job that I would rather be doing.  The 2009-2010 school year marks my tenth year as a first grade teacher.  The time has certainly flown by!  I have often heard people remark that first grade is the most rewarding grade to teach.  I must agree! First grade is a year filled with academic and social growth, and it is amazing to watch it take place.

I graduated from Ida High School in 1993.  I went on to earn my Bachelor's Degree from EMU in 1999.  My first teaching job was at McComb Elementary in Caro, Michigan where I taught first grade for 5 years.  In 2005 my husband and I moved due to his job change, and I was fortunate to be hired as a first grade teacher in the Plymouth-Canton school district.  I taught at Miller Elementary for one year.  I joined the Workman Elementary School staff in 2006, the year it opened.

My family keeps me busy.  My husband Mike and I have been married for almost 10 years.  He is the assistant band director at Belleville High School, his alma mater.  We have a son, Seth, who is 4 and a half years old and begins pre-K in the fall.  He brings us lots of joy, as well as some mischief.  He is definitely "all boy," and we love him to pieces!  My parents live in Dundee and my husband's parents live in Belleville.  We are fortunate to be living so close to our families.

Here are a few interesting facts about me:

  • I was born on Christmas Day.
  • I love, love, LOVE Bon Jovi!
  • In fifth grade I learned to name all 50 states in alphabetical order...and I can still do it!
  • I can't hold a tune in a bucket, yet my husband is a band director and a great musician.
  • I'm a night owl!

I am looking forward to a great 2009-2010 school year!
