Cold Stone Field Trip

Our walking field trip to Cold Stone was a huge success!  Thank you to all the parents who came to walk with us in the wind and the sputtering rain.  I thought the children were very well-behaved and they were so excited to see how the ice cream was made and a cake was frosted.  They did great job making their own ice cream creations, too!  I’ll post pics on the website soon!

Workman News

Our class will be delivering the Workman news the week we return from Spring Break.  More info will be sent home next week.

WOW Words

This week’s WOW words were get, where, house, your & car.  Our chunk was –ar.  Please see the letter that is coming home today regarding our review of this marking period’s WOW words.

Reading

As part of our Science unit about weather, we read books about the 4 seasons.  The children were divided into 4 groups and assigned one season.  Each day, we did a different activity that required the children to incorporate information about their assigned season.  Next week we will learn all about clouds.

Writing

We wrapped up our writing of our How-To books this week.  If you came to the Writing Celebration on Thursday, you were able to see your child’s work.  The children really seemed to enjoy this unit of writing.

Math

Unit 7 is all about shapes and their attributes.  We discussed what an attribute is and compared various shapes according to different attributes.  The children also learned what a polygon is and constructed their own polygons using straws and twist ties.

The Home Links will be sent home on Tuesday next week.  You have until Friday, April 16th to return them.

Pumpkin Sitters

I am still in need of some Pumpkin Sitters for weekends in May and June.  Let me know if you can help.  Thanks!

Kelly DiPuccio

As part of our March is Reading Month activities, all Workman students participated in an assembly with Michigan author Kelly DiPuccio.  Kelly talked about how she comes up with her story ideas.  She also shared one of her stories, Bed Hogs, with us.

Have a great weekend!
